The First Podcast

We finally got The Bob Narley Show Podcast finished and online, and the response has been fantastic!

Already we have received several emails from all over the world complementing us on our first Podcast. It really felt great to hear that the material worked on a global scale. It's not hard to understand the real potential behind Podcasting.

It wasn't as hard as I thought it would have been, however we did hit some serious snags in the process. Good ol' webmaster Steve made the first minor error when he misspelled the location of our RSS feed on two web pages. That was nice. Luckily only about 40 people copied the wrong location to their IPODDER software.

FYI, The correct location to The Bob Narley Show Podcast is:
http://bobnarley.com/podcast/dircaster.php

I must thank Bruce from Podcastbunker.com for pointing out the spelling error. Thanks Bruce.

Bruce has a great website with reviews and a 30 second preview of Podcasts. Check it out at http://www.podcastbunker.com

The second snag was here in the studio.
We have been using a new soundcard, the Tascam FW1884 with Nuendo 2. The Tascam FW1884 is an awesome soundcard/mixer/midi interface that does everything I need in my digital production studio. The glitch was with my old PC, it seems the old PC just doesn't have enough power to run the rig. The result is that I'm getting drop outs and freezes when I try and record long audio, like 30 minutes or more of 5 tracks. I guess it's time to buy a new PC for the studio. Ca Ching!

The solution was simple. We just recorded a very short 11 minute show for our first Podcast. It didn't have near as many elements as I originally had put into the show, but it did allow for a polished showcase of the material for our new listeners.

Next time, a longer show.

What is Podcasting?

Podcasting is delivering "on demand" audio in mp3 format via an RSS feed, much like a BLOG, automatically to your IPOD, MP3 player, or PC.

With IPodder, a free software, you can subscribe to "Podcasts" and download these feeds to any device that plays mp3 files, all for FREE!

Click here to download IPODDER Yes, it's FREE!

The idea of "on demand" audio without the FCC sticking it's nose into my business seems like a great idea to me, so I have instructed my team to Make it Happen.

So let it be written, so let it be done.

The days of listening through hours of garbage just to hear something you like are gone. Now, it's all "on demand". You can hear what you want, when you want it, without the government controlling it.

I'm pretty excited about it.

On this Blog, I will post as much information as possible regarding the process of creating a Podcast. You will be able to get insight not only to the technical side, but as to the creative side as well.
